Party Like a Brat: Designing for the Cool Girl

At MVW Events, I thrive on creating weddings that are as unique and unforgettable as the couples I work with. Inspired by Charli XCX's album "Brat," I started envisioning how I’d design a wedding that embodies the beat, nostalgia, and party-girl vibes of the music. This theme is perfect for the cool girl (or anti) bride who wants to be drunk on love, dancing with her favorite people, and inspiring the next viral trend. Here’s how I’d bring this brat-inspired vision to life here in New York City.

Venue Selection: Your Cool Girl HQ

The Virgin Hotel in NoMad, particularly the Loft on the 38th floor, is the perfect venue for a brat-inspired wedding. This space offers major cool girl vibes with its high ceilings, modern chandeliers, and full bar. The private observation deck provides stunning NYC views, ideal for rooftop selfies and feeling like you’re on top of the world. It’s a beautiful blank canvas that can be transformed to match the edgy, glamorous theme. Additionally, you can rent out various parts of the hotel to give your guests a different experience for each part of your wedding. Picture this: saying "I do" with the Empire State as your witness. Now that's a power move.

Color Palette: Your Vibe, Your Rules

Channel your inner Charli XCX with a color palette that's as bold as you are. I love the mix of green, white, and gold for a touch of classic glam, or green, white, and black for a modern, edgy vibe. The gold adds a touch of classic elegance, perfect for the bride who still wants a bit of tradition. The black is for the anti-bride who embraces non-traditional elements and wants a bold, edgy look. To add depth and dimension to your design, I'd mix and match textures like lace and silk for a romantic feel, or velvet and leather for a more edgy vibe.

Your Runway to Forever

Forget the traditional bridal look. Your wedding day is your ultimate fashion moment. We're talking effortlessly cool, with a touch of rebellious edge. Imagine avant-garde gowns with unexpected cuts paired with bold accessories that scream "you." Think pearls and diamonds mixed together for a modern, heiress vibe – it's like Britney Spears meets Blair Waldorf. Designers like Danielle Frankel, Ritual Unions, L’Agence, and Naeem Khan are your inspiration. Add a pop of green to your shoes or even your veil for a touch of the signature color.

And don't forget the wedding party. We're ditching the standard all-black suits for sleek, modern looks with pops of green or gold. For the bridesmaids, we're obsessed with satin green slip dresses – an effortless and chic take on bridal party attire. We want everyone to feel like a rockstar, so encourage your guests to dress to impress and channel their inner fashion icons. We’re talking pops of color, mixed textures, bold jewelry, and fun accessories! Ostrich feather handbag anyone?
